I'm delighted to announce that I've been selected as the Duncairn Arts Centre’s first Writer-in-Residence. I’ve been involved with the Duncairn for a number of years performing at events and hosting writing workshops; and the staff and audiences have always been extremely welcoming and supportive. I’m currently finalising creative-project ideas with the Duncairn team and am excited to contribute to the fantastic work they do in promoting and showcasing the arts.
The Writer-in-Residence opportunity is welcome news for me at the end of what has been a difficult year for the entire arts community. It is also perfectly timed as Doire Press are releasing my debut poetry book next spring, so the residency will allow me the time to edit and finalise the book and to plan for 2021 with optimism.
As part of the residency I will also be hosting the new Duncairn Podcast, which will give a behind-the-scenes insight into the residency and my day-to-day life as a writer. As well as that, I’ll be chatting with various artists from a range of genres including music, comedy, theatre and more. I’ve always been intrigued by people’s creative journeys and processes and I hope it will provide inspiring content for me and the listeners.
The first two episodes of the podcast are now live and can be found here: http://bit.ly/DuncPod
